Stump The Philosopher

February 3, 2006

Those of you who actually read my blogs may recall the one about the conversation / debate in my office on the topic of Iceland vs. Greenland and the use of the word “hotter” in the discussion. Turns out, that Amy knows a graduate student in philosphey here at Queen’s and when asked what he thought he argued for both sides. After that he decided to bring up the discussion with his fellow classmates as well as a few profs and guess what…there was no definative answer as to whether or not the use of the word hotter was right or wrong. Which, means I’m right, as usual (let the comments fly).

Anyhow, I thought it was interesting that something I said was actually deemed worthy of discussion in a philosphy class and that it actually stumped them (sort of)….although I guess that’s what philosopy is all about, ah well, kind of cool nonetheless!

Cheers!

“I scrambled to the top of the precipice where Nick was waiting. “That was fun,” I said. “You bet it was,” said Nick. “Let’s climb higher.” “No,” I said. “I think we should be heading back now.” “We have time,” Nick insisted. I said we didn’t, and Nick said we did. We argued back and forth like that for about 20 minutes, then finally decided to head back. I didn’t say it was an interesting story.”
