Basement Woes

June 15, 2006

15 days have gone by since I took possession of the house and I must say things are going well. Although I'm not going to list EVERYTHING I've done in there let me say that I'm impressed with my Dad, Scott, Vern and myself for getting as much done as quick as we have. The basement should be done by the end of the month and it'll be time to paint the house. Needless to say my September 1st target date is more reasonable then I thought and I may even move it up to August 1st. Mind you, spending every weekend there and heading over there right after work and not leaving until 10pm makes things happen fast.

Wish me / us luck!

Today…

May 30, 2006

Today is the day I get the keys to MY house! YAHOO…that sounds so awesome…."My house"! LOL giddy as a school girl.

Anyhow, I'm going to the lawyer's at 3pm to get the keys then I'm going into the house, confirming the plans that I've come up with thus far and then I'm heading to Rona, grabbing one (if not two) shopping carts and I'm loading up on supplies to get me through the next week as I'm off work after today to work on the inside of the house. I have a dumpster coming first thing tomorrow morning so I want to have stuff to throw in it as soon as it hits my driveway (haha "my driveway"). It should be a fun few months as I completely renovate that place from top to bottom with the help of my Dad, Vern, Rebecca, Monique, Craig, Scott and anyone else wanting to take out some frustration on a cement sidewalk or one of the two bathrooms I'm gutting…me…I'm looking forward to throwing the sledge hammer through the shower downstairs! HAHA, that will feel GOOOOD! LOL! Hmm, I've never run through a wall before, maybe I'll give that a try sometime this week!? :P After all, it is MY house! :P

Anyhow, I have "visions" for this place (delusions of grander) so when I finally get hit with the reality that I'll be watching a 13 inch black and white TV while sitting on milk crates in a half finished home, try to be there for me as I sob in misery and sorrow…until then, who wants to break stuff!?

Cheers!

The Breakdown (Day Four)

March 23, 2006

Tuesday March 7th:

By now we had nicknames for the crazy resort workers like; Sideshow Bob, Carlito, Krusty The Clown, Show Time and a slew of others.  But in all honesty, the workers at the resort were all pretty nice from the grounds crew to the serving staff, to the entertainment staff.  But, as with anything, there’s always at least one bad apple…on our first trip to the bar on the resort the very first bartender to serve us our very first drink there withheld one of our drinks insinuating that a tip was mandatory!  Needless to say it made me want to show her my $2000 receipt to remind her that I already paid for it and that a tip was usually given for a job well done and not as mandatory exchange for goods!  B!TCH! lol  Ok, that felt good…This was our first excursion day!  We were pumped and after a crazy Dominican drive where we almost had a few mopeds hop in the back of our open-air truck, we made it to the snorkeling site.  This was an awesome excursion, we took speed boats out to a coral reef and snorkeled while feeding the fish!  Craig had snorkeled in the past so he got used to it pretty quick.  I had bought snorkel gear at Costco and was glad I did, because novice snorkelers had issues using the bottom of the barrel snorkeling gear they supplied us.  The example….MIKE! LOL he struggled the poor guy, swallowed salt water (as did I), but I think he won that chugging contest.  Anyhow, on the way to the reef everyone was abiding by the rules of keeping 90 feet between boats, not weaving, etc…which was fine by me cause my boat was crap.  BUT, on the way back I managed to get in a different boat and was able to open-er-up while weaving through the wakes of other boats all while being caught on camera and appearing forever in copies of the the other tourists DVD’s as the crazy Canadian that whizzed through multiple shots while screaming hysterically!

Cheers!
